Skim coating is how you turn a wall with fifty years of patches, wallpaper glue and texture into one flat surface again, without tearing anything out.
Level 5 is a full skim coat over the whole surface, which is what you want under gloss paint or anywhere strong side light hits the wall.
Old plaster, blueboard and drywall each take a different bonding coat. We test a section first.
Bonding primer goes down so the new coat does not release later.
Thin coats dry even. Thick coats crack. We build the surface up in two or three passes.
Low angle light on every wall before we call it done.
Usually yes. We scrape the loose texture first, then skim. If the ceiling tests positive for asbestos, we stop and you bring in an abatement contractor before we continue.
On most rooms, yes, and it keeps your existing trim, wiring and plaster intact.

It is rare these days to find a company that I have had such an enthusiastically positive experience with. Diego’s guys are artisans. Watching them work is a ballet of talent. Price is very reasonable for such a great product, esp since our job had a certain amount of complexity involved - 14’ commercial ceilings at ASt Commerce Park. Highly recommend.

Diego and his crew are far and away the easiest sheetrock contractor I’ve worked with. They fit into my schedule, they worked hard and fast to hang and worked cleanly and thoughtfully to mud, tape, and sand. Can’t ask for anything more.
